The female citizens of India can now avail the benefits of the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY). The great initiative was launched by the central government of India to provide various financial benefits to all new mothers or pregnant women in India. According to the Government of India, the monetary incentive under the PMMVY scheme is INR 5000. The scheme was designed by keeping in mind the dietary needs of pregnant women and the expenses that occur during the birth of a newborn. The monetary incentive will be transferred to the selected female citizen’s bank account in three different installments of INR 1000, 2000, and 2000 respectively at different intervals of time.

About Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY)

The Ministry of Women and Child Development of India first introduced the scheme in the year 2017 to uplift the lives of all economically backward pregnant female citizens. The main purpose of this scheme is to help all pregnant women who have lost their jobs due to pregnancy. With the help of this scheme, the Government of India wants to provide basic nutrition to all pregnant mothers and newborns in India. The registration under the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana is only open till 270 days after the birth of a child. The eligible women can apply for the scheme both offline or online according to their choice.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Only pregnant women or new mothers are eligible for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana.
  • Any pregnant or lactating women who become pregnant with their first child on or after January 1, 2017, are eligible.
  • The female citizens must register themselves under the scheme within 270 days after childbirth.

Exceptional Circumstances

  • In case of miscarriage or stillbirth, the selected female citizens will be treated as a fresh beneficiaries under the scheme.
  • If the female citizen registers themselves after 270 days of childbirth she will not be selected.
  • The female beneficiary must be between the age group of 18 years 7 months to 55 years to be selected.

Offline Application Process

STEP 1: All the female citizens of India who want to apply for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana offline a requested to visit the nearest Anganwadi center or health center.

STEP 2: Once the female citizen reaches the nearest Anganwadi Centre or health center she must consult with the concerned government official and ask for the Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana application form.

STEP 3: After receiving the application form the female citizens must start filling all the details that are asked on the application form and attaching the photocopies of the necessary documents.
