On September 19, 2024, the Assam government introduced Assam Orunodoi 3.0, the third version of the popular poverty reduction program has been now officially launched. This scheme will now cover 37.2 lakh recipients immediately through cash transfers. At ₹5,604 crore,   Assam Orunodoi 3.0′ is the biggest state-run Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) program in the history of Assam. With over 12.5 lakh additional beneficiaries above the previous version of this scheme. The program aims to provide low-income women with a sense of empowerment by immediately depositing ₹1,250 into their bank accounts on the tenth of every month. What is Assam Orunodoi Scheme?

Assam Orunodoi Scheme has been launched for third term because of its excellent reaction and influence on the state’s residents. The Assamese state government has decided to renew the excellent programme, known as the Assam Orunodoi scheme, for a third time. In accordance with this plan, the state’s residents will receive direct benefit transfers from the government. A monthly stipend of rupees 1,250 will be provided to about 3.7 million participants under this initiative, for a total of Rs 15000 monthly. The initiative will improve the people’ social standing. Objective of Assam Orunodoi 3.0

The primary goal of the Beneficiaries Under Orunodoi 3.0 is to ensure that every Assamese woman citizen leads a happy and secure life, in terms and emotionally. This program aims to end financial challenges for low-income families in the region because financial crises are common in Assam. The government will directly transfer benefits to the citizens of the state under this scheme. Under this scheme, around 3.7 million members will receive a monthly stipend of rupees 1,250, for a total of Rs 15000 monthly. The effort will raise the social status of the individuals. The underprivileged will make excellent use of this money in a variety of ways.

Inclusion Eligibility Criteria

The Inclusion eligibility criteria for this program are listed below:

  • Must be an Assamese state permanent resident.
  • Must have a ration card holder that has been seeded with Aadhar.
  • If a woman applies, she must be an adult from a family who is at least 18 years old.
  • Applying under this system is open to widows, unmarried women (45+), divorced women, deserted women, and transgender people.
  • All Divyanga people, regardless of gender, are qualified to apply for this program.
  • Women who are elderly or ill are eligible to apply for this program.
  • Under this system, women from households with elderly or disabled earners may apply.
  • This program is open to women who have been diagnosed with HIV, Thalassemia, hemophilia, cerebral palsy, leprosy, or autism.
  • The lady who is without any permanent place to live are eligible for applying under this scheme.

Exclusion Eligibility Criteria

The following are the Exclusion Eligibility criteria –

  • Applications for this plan are not accepted from the homes of MPs, MLAs, CEMs, EMs, or their former counterparts.
  • Members of autonomous councils, urban local bodies, and panchayat raj are not qualified.
  • Teachers, physicians, engineers, architects, certified public accountants, lawyers, and bankers are not qualified.
  • Not eligible are income tax payers, real estate brokers, industrialists, government contractors, trade license holders, and businesspeople.
  • Families possessing motorized four-wheelers are ineligible.
  • Not a single marginal landowner
  • Recipients of comparable cash programs, such as “orunodoi plus,” are not qualified.
