Overview of Aahar Jharkhand
The Jharkhand State Government launched the scheme to help the financially weak citizens get food grains at a subsidized rate compared to the market. To receive the benefits of the subsidized rate of food grains the citizens must have a valid ration card. All the families of Jharkhand state who belong to the APL, BPL, or AAY categories are eligible to avail the benefits of the Aahar Jharkhand PDS. Type of Ration Card
There are a total of 4 types of ration cards in Jharkhand state namely-
- AAY- This type of ration card will only be given to those individuals who fall under the Antyodaya Anna Yojana. Under just this type of ration card, the cardholders will receive rice at a subsidized rate of INR 3 per kilo and wheat at INR 2 per kilo.
- PHH- A PHH ration card also called a Priority household ration card. This type of ration card will be given to the citizens depending on their income level and vulnerability. Under this ration card, the citizens will get coarse grains for INR 1 per kg, INR 2 per kg for wheat, and INR 3 per kg for rice.
- NPHH- An NPHH Ration card is also called a non-priority household ration card. This type of ration card will be given to citizens of India who didn’t pass the eligibility criteria for a Priority household ration card. Under this ration card, the cardholder is not entitled to receive any kind of subsidy on any food grain.
- White Ration Card- This type of ration card will be given to those citizens of India who have an annual income of over INR 1 lakh.

- For the AAY ration card, the citizens must fall under the Antyodaya category for financially weaker individuals.
- For the PHH ration card, the citizens must be classified as a Priority household living in rural areas in India.
- For the NPHH ration card, the citizens must have a stable income source and they are not eligible to receive any kind of subsidy.
- For the White Ration Card, Only the citizens who have an annual income of above in urban lega are eligible power of this ration card.
