The central government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM- Kisan). To provide monetary incentives to all the citizens of India who are farmers by profession and are financially weak the Government of India introduced the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM- Kisan). Under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, the central government of India will transfer monetary incentives directly to the bank accounts of selected farmers. The financial incentives of INR 2000 in three different installments in a year will be given to the chosen beneficiaries under the scheme. All the financially weak farmers are eligible to avail the benefits of the PM-Kisan scheme.

Overview of PM- Kisan

PM Kisan Yojana is one of the most glorious schemes launched by the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi to uplift the lives of farmers in India. According to the reports, the central government of India has set up a total budget of INR 60,000 crore under the PM Kisan Yojana. A total of 2.56 crore farmers across India have already availed the benefits of PM Kisan Yojana. Recently, the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi released the 17th installment of the scheme during an event in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. PM Kisan 17th Installment

The Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi announced the launch of the 17th installment of PM Kisan Yojana during his event in Uttar Pradesh. Under the 17th installment of the scheme, the Government of India will transfer a monetary incentive of INR 2000. The authorities launched the 17th installment of PM Kisan Yojana on 18th June 2024. The financial incentive will be transferred directly to the selected farmer’s bank account through the DBT process. According to the report, a total of INR 20000 crore was transferred among the farmers of India during the 17th installment.

PM Kisan 16th Installment

The 16th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi was announced by the Prime Minister of India Mr Narendra Modi on 28th February 2024. Under the 16th installment, the authorities will provide financial assistance of INR 2000 to all eligible farmers. The financial incentive will be transferred directly to the selected farmer’s bank account through the DBT process. As per the Government of India, a total of INR 21,000 crore was transferred among the eligible farmers during the distribution of the 16th installments of PM Kisan Yojana. A total of 9 crore farmers in India received financial assistance under the 16th installment.

Inclusion Eligibility Criteria

  • Landholding Criteria: All the households that comprise a husband, wife, and minor children and own cultivable land as per the land records of the respective state or UT  are eligible for the scheme.
  • Eligible family: To avail the financial assistance under the scheme the household must considered as a family unit comprising the farmer, his/her spouse, and minor children.
  • Ownership of Cultivable Land: The farmers must also own cultivable land that is legally recorded under the state or UT.

Exclusion Eligibility Criteria

  • Institutional Landholders:
    • All the farmers who are institutional landholders are not eligible to avail the benefits of the PM Kisan Yojana.
  • Higher Income Status:
    • All the citizens who are serving or retired officers or employees of Central/State Government Ministries, Offices, Departments, and its field units, Central or State PSEs, and Attached offices/Autonomous Institutions under the Government as well as regular employees of the Local Bodies (Excluding Multi Tasking Staff / Class IV/Group D employees) are not eligible.All the superannuated or retired pensioners whose monthly pension is more than INR 10,000 are not eligible for the scheme
    • Professionals like doctors, engineers, lawyers, chartered accountants, and architects registered with a professional Institute and carrying out their profession by practicing are not eligible.
  • Government Positions and Taxpayers:
    • All the citizens of India who hold or have held a constitutional post are not eligible.
    • Former and present Ministers/State Ministers, and former/present Members of LokSabha/ RajyaSabha/ State Legislative Assemblies/ State Legislative Councils, former and present Mayors of Municipal Corporations, former and present Chairpersons of District Panchayats.
    • All the citizens who have paid income tax in the last financial year are not eligible.
