Hospital Empanelment Process
STEP 1: The hospitals must first follow the empanelment criteria as presented by the Indian government. According to that, the following criteria must be met:
- The hospitals must have at least 10 in-patient beds.
- They must provide both Medical and surgical services.
- Medical staff should be present around the clock.
- All the essential services should be included in the hospital such as pharmacy, laboratory, and blood bank (in-house or nearby outsourcing).
STEP 2: The hospitals can apply for empanelment on the official Hospital Empanelment Module (HEM) portal at hospitals.pmjay.gov.in.
STEP 3: They need to create an account on the official website to fill out the application for empanelment.
STEP 4: After the initial application is submitted, a verification will be conducted.
STEP 5: Online as well as offline verification will be done.
STEP 6: Inspection will be done by the District Empanelment Committee (DEC). This will include inspection of the infrastructure, staff, and services.
STEP 7: Hospitals offering specialized services (e.g., oncology, cardiology) must meet additional criteria, including having ICU facilities and specialists on call.
